I found this recipe online and used it to make a cheesecake by substituting this for cherry pie filling.
1 pound apples, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
1 cup fresh cranberries
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 and 1/2 tsp lemon juice
3 tbsp water.
Stir apples, cranberries, water, and cinnamon together in large saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and cook until fruit is tender, about 30 minutes.
Remove from heat. Stir in lemon juice.
Mash with a fork to make into a chunky sauce.
Note: I also used it as a sauce with Christmas dinner, in place of regular cranberry sauce. And, when making a cake batter, I swirled three tablespoons into the batter with a knife.
